James Watts In The Lab

Not that it’s a big deal, but you may have noticed a new little header on the page — I couldn’t sleep (that’s what 2 Excedrin PM at 9:30pm will do to you), so I got to “playing”. I also freshened up the dot com just a bit. Only one URL necessary to find me everywhere I “be”.

On on another note, thanks to NUMEROUS conversations about the future with my various associates, and the past three days at the office (yeah, they got me in a desk…well worth it though), I feel like something has changed for the better. We’re not totally there, but the vision has gotten clearer, and will be broadcast in HD when the time is right. If it’s not making ANY sense right now, just bare with me (as you always seem to do); I’ma take care of it.

Further Proof…

Izza Kizza

EDIT: This post is in regards to an issue that has since been resolved. Please read this to understand the full story.

So I’m at the NYC office checking up on all of the blogs that are in my daily rotation, right? Nothing crazy. Upon visiting Herfection, I came upon true fuckery in the form of SoulDiggaz/Mosley Music Group artist Izza Kizza’s mixtape cover. My first thought was, “my, in concept, this is a whole lot like the artwork for my 12 Minute Mixtape“; if it was ANY other artist, this wouldn’t bother me at all as much, but given that I’ve visited the SoulDiggaz’ studio on several occasions, I have reason to consider this a little suspect. I mean, they ARE on my blast list, no?

But it didn’t end there.

After leaving a comment on H’s post, I refreshed the page only to find that dude has a song titled “Georgie Porgie”!!! WHAT?!? Can you be more blatant? I mean, I’m all for the new open-sourced/let’s-share-everything nature of the game, but this goes beyond collective consciousness; THIS feels like a rip-off.

Granted, dude is actually pretty decent (I actually dig some of his music); still, I find no excuse for this kind of ridiculousness. Nonetheless, I will use this post to forgive you Izza, along with Mack & Co. — I understand that fans are going to be fans, and art like mine is bound to inspire. Next time though fellas, holla at the kid for a guest verse, huh? I mean, I’m just a few minutes down Scotland Road.

Psshh. And Nick, I’ve been a LONG time fan of you (pre-Fader/Fool’s Gold, homie)!!! Word to Klepini.

Interview With ParodiesOfMyLife.com

July 7th, 2008

A few weeks back, New Jersey-based graphic designer (& homie) Aaron Brown invited me up to his Montclair office to do an interview piece for his website, ParodiesOfMyLife. We covered a gamut of topics ranging from my music to the current presidential race. Good times.

Aside from his day job working with the Brooklyn New Jersey Nets, he’s currently building a graphic design brand which will extend from digital based artwork to clothing; POML looks to go beyond design-for-the-sake-of-it by shedding light on the idiocies and hypocrisy evident in everyday American life.

Pics from the office after the jump.
